Morgaine McKibben, PhD
Morgaine McKibben is part of the Clean Water program at SFEI. Her work focuses on biological processes related to the Bay Area Nutrient Management Program, particularly the role of phytoplankton in San Francisco Bay water quality. She received her Master’s and Ph.D. in Oceanography from Oregon State University where she studied coastal phytoplankton ecology and harmful algal blooms (HABs). She is applying her experience to investigating the environmental controls of phytoplankton blooms in the San Francisco Bay, including HABs, and examining the effects of HABs on the ecology of the Bay.
