Bird Egg Monitoring (Project)

Cormorant and tern bird egg monitoring was incorporated into the Status and Trends Program in 2008, although substantial monitoring of eggs (cormorant in 2002, 2004, and 2006, and tern in 2002 and 2003) had previously been conducted through Exposure and Effects Pilot Studies. As of 2009, sampling occurs on a triennial basis. Since 2004, cormorant eggs have been collected at the Wheeler Island, Richmond Bridge, and Don Edwards Park sites and analyzed for mercury, selenium, PBDEs, PCBs, and pesticides. PFCs were included in the program in 2009.
